END OF SEASON. Giant Snakehead fishing in Vietnam

With temperatures dropping fast in Vietnam, the Giant Snakehead (Toman) are becoming more docile, and that explosive hunting style they’re known for starts to slow down. On one of the last warm days of the year, I took my new staff out for a giant snakehead fishing trip to see whether the cold had already affected their feeding. The early morning bite was slow, but as soon as the sun broke through, their appetite switched back on. Giant Snakehead are truly some of the most aggressive topwater predators in freshwater fishing, and it’s always a bit bittersweet when their prime season comes to an end. As the days get shorter and the water cools, they’ll settle down and keep growing — and we’ll be ready next year to chase them again with topwater lures, explosive strikes, and everything that makes snakehead fishing in Vietnam so addictive.
